Olinguito
The Olinguito is a small mammal native to the cloud forests of the Andes in Colombia and Ecuador. It belongs to the raccoon family and is known for its fluffy fur, large eyes, and a long, bushy tail. The Olinguito primarily feeds on fruits, insects, and small animals, making it an omnivore.
Discovered as a distinct species in 2013, the Olinguito is the first new carnivore species identified in the Americas in over 35 years. It is a nocturnal creature, which means it is most active at night. Due to habitat loss, the Olinguito faces threats to its survival in the wild.
