Olfactory Experience
Olfactory experience refers to the perception of smells through the sense of smell, or olfaction. This process begins when odor molecules enter the nose and bind to receptors in the olfactory epithelium. These receptors send signals to the brain, allowing us to identify and differentiate various scents.
The olfactory system plays a crucial role in our daily lives, influencing our emotions, memories, and even taste. Certain smells can evoke strong memories or feelings, as the olfactory bulb is closely linked to the limbic system, the part of the brain associated with emotions and memory.
