Old Kingdom of Egypt
The Old Kingdom of Egypt lasted from around 2686 to 2181 BCE and is often referred to as the "Age of the Pyramids." This period is famous for the construction of monumental structures, including the iconic Great Pyramid of Giza and the Sphinx. The Old Kingdom was marked by strong centralized leadership under the pharaohs, who were considered divine rulers.
During this time, the Egyptians developed a complex society with advancements in art, architecture, and writing. The use of hieroglyphics became prominent, and the belief in the afterlife led to elaborate burial practices, including the construction of mastabas and tombs for the elite.
