Oil Wrestling
Oil Wrestling is a traditional sport that originated in Turkey and is known as "Yağlı Güreş." In this unique competition, wrestlers cover themselves in olive oil and engage in matches on a grassy field. The oil makes it challenging to grip opponents, adding an extra layer of difficulty to the sport.
The most famous event for Oil Wrestling is the annual Kirkpinar festival, which has been held for centuries. Wrestlers, known as "pehlivans," wear special leather pants called "kispet." The goal is to pin the opponent to the ground, showcasing strength, skill, and strategy in this ancient practice.
