Ogham stone
An Ogham stone is a type of ancient stone monument found primarily in Ireland and parts of Britain. These stones are inscribed with Ogham, an early medieval alphabet used primarily for writing the early Irish language. The inscriptions typically consist of a series of notches or lines carved along the edges of the stone, often representing names or significant information about individuals.
Ogham stones date back to the 4th to 7th centuries AD and are considered important artifacts for understanding early Irish culture and language. Many of these stones are located in rural areas, often near burial sites or ancient pathways, and they provide valuable insights into the history of the Celtic peoples and their traditions.
