Oenomaus was a figure from Greek mythology, known as the king of Pisa in Elis. He was famous for his role in the myth of Atalanta, a skilled huntress. Oenomaus challenged suitors to a chariot race, promising to marry the winner and execute the losers.
His chariot was said to be drawn by magnificent horses, a gift from Ares, the god of war. Oenomaus was ultimately defeated by Meleager, who received help from Atalanta. This defeat led to Oenomaus's death, marking a significant moment in the mythological tales surrounding love and competition.
