Odone Family
The Odone Family is best known for their efforts to find a treatment for their son, Lorenzo, who was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder called adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD). In the 1980s, Augusto and Michaela Odone researched extensively and developed a dietary therapy that included a special oil, which they believed could help manage the symptoms of ALD.
Their story gained widespread attention and was later depicted in the film Lorenzo's Oil, highlighting their determination and the challenges they faced in advocating for their son’s health. The family's journey has inspired many and raised awareness about rare diseases and parental advocacy in medical research.
