Nubian pyramids
The Nubian pyramids are ancient structures located in present-day Sudan, primarily in the region of Nubia. Built between 2600 BCE and 300 CE, these pyramids served as tombs for the kings and queens of the Kushite dynasty. They are smaller and steeper than the more famous Egyptian pyramids and are characterized by their unique architectural style.
There are over 200 Nubian pyramids, with the most notable sites being Meroë and Napata. These pyramids were constructed using sandstone and are often adorned with inscriptions and carvings. The Nubian pyramids reflect the rich cultural heritage and history of the Kushite civilization.
