November Uprising
The November Uprising was a Polish revolt that began on November 29, 1830, against the rule of the Russian Empire. It aimed to restore Polish independence and was sparked by discontent with Russian control over the Kingdom of Poland. The uprising involved a series of battles and skirmishes, primarily led by young military officers and students.
Despite initial successes, the uprising was ultimately suppressed by Russian forces by October 1831. The defeat led to harsh reprisals, including the dissolution of the Kingdom of Poland and increased Russian repression. The November Uprising is remembered as a significant event in Polish history and a symbol of the struggle for national sovereignty.
