November 5th (Celebration)
November 5th is celebrated in the United Kingdom as Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Bonfire Night. This event commemorates the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605, when Guy Fawkes and others attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament. The night is marked by fireworks, bonfires, and the burning of effigies of Fawkes.
Traditionally, children create "Guy" effigies and ask for "a penny for the guy" to fund the festivities. Communities often host public displays of fireworks and bonfires, bringing people together to enjoy the celebrations and remember the historical event.
