Norwegian language
The Norwegian language is a North Germanic language spoken primarily in Norway. It has two official written forms: Bokmål and Nynorsk, which reflect different historical and regional influences. Bokmål is more widely used, while Nynorsk is based on rural dialects and aims to preserve traditional Norwegian speech.
Norwegian is closely related to other Scandinavian languages, such as Swedish and Danish. It shares a common linguistic heritage with these languages, making it relatively easy for speakers of one to understand the others. The language is known for its melodic intonation and rich vocabulary, influenced by both Old Norse and modern developments.
