Norwegian Americans
Norwegian Americans are individuals in the United States who have ancestry from Norway. This group began to immigrate in significant numbers during the 19th century, particularly between 1825 and 1925, seeking better economic opportunities and escaping hardships in their homeland. Many settled in the Midwest, especially in states like Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota.
Today, Norwegian Americans celebrate their heritage through various cultural events, such as Syttende Mai, Norway's Constitution Day. They often maintain traditions like Lutefisk dinners and Leif Erikson Day, honoring their Viking roots and contributions to American society.
