Norway rats
The Norway rat, also known as the brown rat, is a common rodent found in urban and rural areas worldwide. They have a robust body, short ears, and a long, scaly tail. Typically, they measure about 9 to 11 inches in length, excluding the tail, and can weigh between 7 to 18 ounces. Norway rats are known for their adaptability and can thrive in various environments, often nesting in burrows or buildings.
These rats are primarily nocturnal and are omnivorous, feeding on a wide range of foods, including grains, fruits, and meats. They are social animals, often living in large colonies. Due to their rapid reproduction rate, a single pair can produce many offspring in a year, contributing to their population growth and potential pest issues in human habitats.
