Northwest Caucasian
The Northwest Caucasian languages are a small family of languages primarily spoken in the northwestern region of the Caucasus Mountains. This group includes languages such as Abkhaz, Abaza, and Circassian. These languages are known for their complex consonant systems and rich phonetic diversity.
The speakers of Northwest Caucasian languages are mainly found in Abkhazia, Karachay-Balkaria, and Kabardino-Balkaria. The languages are characterized by their agglutinative structure, meaning they often form words by stringing together various morphemes. This linguistic family is distinct from other Caucasian language groups, such as Northeast Caucasian and South Caucasian.
