Non-Seminoma
Non-seminoma is a type of testicular cancer that typically arises from germ cells, which are the cells responsible for producing sperm. This cancer is characterized by the presence of different cell types, including teratoma, choriocarcinoma, and yolk sac tumor. Non-seminomas are generally more aggressive than seminomas, another type of testicular cancer, and can spread more quickly to other parts of the body.
Diagnosis of non-seminoma usually involves imaging tests, blood tests for tumor markers, and a biopsy. Treatment often includes orchiectomy, the surgical removal of the affected testicle, followed by chemotherapy or radiation therapy, depending on the stage and type of cancer. Early detection is crucial for improving outcomes.
