Nile Catfish
The Nile Catfish, scientifically known as *Bagrus bayad*, is a large freshwater fish native to the Nile River and other river systems in Africa. It can grow up to 1.5 meters (about 5 feet) in length and is known for its elongated body and sharp spines. This species is primarily nocturnal, feeding on smaller fish, crustaceans, and invertebrates.
Nile Catfish are important both ecologically and economically. They play a significant role in their habitat by controlling fish populations. Additionally, they are a popular choice for local fisheries and are often sought after for their firm, white flesh, making them a valuable food source in many African communities.
