Nigerian National Democratic Party
The Nigerian National Democratic Party (NNDP) was established in 1923 as one of the first political parties in Nigeria. It aimed to represent the interests of educated Nigerians and promote self-governance during British colonial rule. The party played a significant role in the early political landscape of Nigeria, advocating for reforms and greater political representation.
The NNDP was instrumental in the formation of Nigeria's political framework, influencing subsequent parties and movements. It was known for its moderate approach and collaboration with colonial authorities, which sometimes led to criticism from more radical groups. The party eventually lost prominence as Nigeria moved towards independence in the 1960s.
