After years of studying and working abroad, he returned to Vietnam and founded the Vietnamese Communist Party in 1930. Ho Chi Minh led the fight against both colonialism and imperialism, ultimately declaring Vietnam's independence on September 2, 1945, and serving as the country's first president until his death in 1969.
