Nguyễn Ánh
Nguyễn Ánh, also known as Emperor Gia Long, was the first emperor of the Nguyễn Dynasty in Vietnam. He ruled from 1802 to 1820 and is known for unifying Vietnam after a long period of civil war. His reign marked the beginning of a centralized state and significant reforms in governance and military organization.
Born in 1762, Nguyễn Ánh faced numerous challenges, including conflicts with the Tây Sơn rebels. He sought assistance from foreign powers, particularly the French, to regain his throne. His efforts ultimately led to the establishment of a unified Vietnam, shaping the country's future for generations.
