Ngāpuhi
Ngāpuhi is a Māori iwi (tribe) located in the Northland region of New Zealand. It is one of the largest iwi in the country, with a rich history and cultural heritage. Ngāpuhi people primarily descend from the original Māori settlers and have strong connections to their ancestral lands, known as Te Tai Tokerau.
The iwi is known for its significant role in New Zealand's history, particularly during the early contact period with European settlers. Ngāpuhi leaders, such as Hongi Hika, played crucial roles in shaping the relationships between Māori and Europeans. Today, Ngāpuhi continues to promote its culture, language, and traditions while engaging in various social and economic initiatives.
