New Zealand Order of Merit
The New Zealand Order of Merit is an honor established in 1996 to recognize outstanding contributions to New Zealand society. It is awarded to individuals for their achievements in various fields, including arts, sciences, public service, and community work. The order has several ranks, including Knight or Dame Grand Companion, Knight or Dame Companion, and Companion.
Recipients of the New Zealand Order of Merit are nominated by the public and selected by the Governor-General of New Zealand. The awards are announced annually on New Zealand Day and are part of the broader system of honors in the country, celebrating excellence and service.
