New York/New Jersey MetroStars
The New York/New Jersey MetroStars, now known as the New York Red Bulls, were a professional soccer team founded in 1994. They were one of the ten original teams in Major League Soccer (MLS) and played their home games at various venues, including Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The team was known for its passionate fan base and efforts to promote soccer in the region.
In 2006, the franchise was purchased by the Red Bull GmbH company, leading to a rebranding as the New York Red Bulls. The team has since achieved notable success, including winning the Supporters' Shield in 2013, which is awarded to the team with the best regular-season record in MLS.
