New Year's Customs
New Year's customs vary widely around the world, reflecting different cultures and traditions. In many countries, people celebrate with fireworks, parties, and family gatherings. For example, in Japan, the New Year, or Shōgatsu, is marked by special meals, temple visits, and the sending of Nengajō (New Year's cards) to friends and family.
In Spain, a popular tradition involves eating twelve grapes at midnight, one for each stroke of the clock, to bring good luck for the coming year. Similarly, in Brazil, many wear white clothing to symbolize peace and throw flowers into the sea as offerings to the goddess Yemanjá.
