New Jersey Legislature
The New Jersey Legislature is the legislative body of the state of New Jersey. It is a bicameral institution, meaning it has two chambers: the New Jersey General Assembly and the New Jersey Senate. The General Assembly has 80 members, while the Senate consists of 40 members. Both chambers are responsible for creating laws, approving budgets, and representing the interests of New Jersey residents.
Members of the legislature are elected by the public and serve varying terms, with Assembly members serving two years and Senators serving four years. The legislature meets annually in Trenton, the state capital, to discuss and pass legislation that affects the state's governance and policies.
