New General Catalogue
The New General Catalogue (NGC) is a comprehensive catalog of deep-sky objects, including galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters. Compiled by John Louis Emil Dreyer in 1888, it serves as a key reference for astronomers and astrophotographers. The NGC contains over 7,800 entries, each assigned a unique number for easy identification.
The catalog is widely used in the field of astronomy and has been updated with additional information over the years. It is often referenced alongside other catalogs, such as the Index Catalogue (IC), which includes objects not listed in the original NGC.
