Neustria
Neustria was a historical region in what is now northern France, established during the early Middle Ages. It emerged in the 6th century as part of the Frankish Kingdom, primarily under the rule of the Merovingians. Neustria was characterized by its distinct cultural and political identity, often in contrast to Austrasia, another Frankish region.
The region encompassed areas such as Normandy and parts of Picardy. Neustria played a significant role in the power struggles of the Frankish kingdoms, particularly during the reign of Clovis I and his successors. By the 8th century, it gradually lost its autonomy, becoming integrated into the larger Carolingian Empire.
