Nerve Grafting
Nerve grafting is a surgical procedure used to repair damaged nerves. It involves taking a healthy nerve from another part of the body, known as a donor site, and attaching it to the injured nerve. This helps restore function and sensation in areas affected by nerve injury.
The graft serves as a bridge, allowing nerve fibers to grow across the damaged area. Over time, the regenerating nerves can reconnect with their target muscles or skin, improving movement and feeling. Nerve grafting is often used in cases of trauma, tumors, or conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome.
