Nerve Anatomy
Nerve anatomy refers to the structure and organization of nerves in the body. Nerves are composed of bundles of axons, which are long, slender projections of nerve cells, or neurons. These axons are surrounded by protective layers, including the endoneurium, perineurium, and epineurium, which help maintain the integrity and function of the nerve.
Nerves can be classified into two main types: sensory nerves, which carry information from sensory receptors to the central nervous system, and motor nerves, which transmit signals from the central nervous system to muscles and glands. This organization allows for efficient communication within the body, enabling responses to stimuli and coordination of movement.
