Neoplasm
A neoplasm is an abnormal growth of tissue that can occur in any part of the body. It results from uncontrolled cell division and can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Benign neoplasms typically do not spread to other parts of the body and are often less harmful, while malignant neoplasms can invade nearby tissues and metastasize to distant organs.
Neoplasms can arise from various cell types and may be classified based on their origin, such as carcinomas (from epithelial cells) or sarcomas (from connective tissues). Diagnosis often involves imaging techniques and biopsies, and treatment options may include surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy.
