Naval Air Station Alameda
Naval Air Station Alameda was a military facility located in Alameda, California. Established in 1940, it served as a significant base for the United States Navy, primarily for naval aviation operations. The station played a crucial role during World War II and the Cold War, supporting various aircraft and missions.
The base was officially closed in 1997 as part of a broader military downsizing. Today, the site has been redeveloped for commercial and residential use, while some remnants of its military history remain, including the Alameda Point Historic District.
