Naval Air Station Miramar
Naval Air Station Miramar is a military airfield located in San Diego, California. Originally established in 1917, it has served various roles, including as a training base for naval aviators. The station is known for its significant contributions to naval aviation and has been home to several squadrons and aircraft types over the years.
In 1997, Miramar was officially closed as a naval base and transitioned to civilian use, becoming Miramar Marine Corps Air Station. Today, it continues to support military operations and training while also being adjacent to the University of California, San Diego and other civilian developments.
