Natrix Natrix
Natrix natrix, commonly known as the grass snake, is a non-venomous snake found across Europe and parts of Asia. It typically inhabits wetlands, grasslands, and forests, where it can often be seen near water sources. The grass snake is known for its distinctive green or brown coloration, which helps it blend into its surroundings.
This species primarily feeds on amphibians, such as frogs and toads, but it may also consume fish and small mammals. Grass snakes are excellent swimmers and can often be found basking in the sun. They are harmless to humans and play an important role in their ecosystems by controlling prey populations.
