National Unity Government
A National Unity Government (NUG) is a coalition formed by multiple political parties or groups, often during times of crisis or conflict. Its primary goal is to promote stability and cooperation among diverse factions within a country. This type of government aims to represent a broader spectrum of society, ensuring that various interests and voices are included in decision-making processes.
NUGs are often established in response to political turmoil, civil unrest, or external threats. For example, the National Unity Government of Myanmar was formed in 2021 as a response to the military coup, seeking to unite different ethnic and political groups against the ruling military junta.
