National Union Party
The National Union Party was a political party in the United States that existed during the 1860s. It was formed in 1864 as a coalition of the Republican Party and some War Democrats to support the re-election of President Abraham Lincoln during the American Civil War. The party aimed to promote unity and support for the war effort against the Confederacy.
The National Union Party was primarily focused on preserving the Union and ending the Civil War. It played a significant role in the 1864 presidential election, where Lincoln won a second term. After the war, the party gradually dissolved, as its main purpose was fulfilled with the restoration of the Union.
