National Liberation Front of Angola
The National Liberation Front of Angola, known as FNLA, was a political and military organization that played a significant role in Angola's struggle for independence from Portuguese colonial rule. Founded in 1962, the FNLA aimed to unite various nationalist movements and sought to establish an independent Angolan state.
During the Angolan Civil War, which erupted after independence in 1975, the FNLA was one of the main factions fighting for power, alongside the MPLA and UNITA. The FNLA received support from Zaire and other foreign entities but eventually lost influence, leading to its decline in the post-war political landscape of Angola.
