MPLA
The MPLA, or People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola, is a political party in Angola. Founded in 1956, it played a significant role in the country's struggle for independence from Portuguese colonial rule. The MPLA became the ruling party after Angola gained independence in 1975 and has maintained power since then.
The party's ideology is rooted in Marxism-Leninism, although it has shifted towards a more pragmatic approach over the years. The MPLA has faced challenges, including a long civil war against the UNITA party, which lasted until 2002. Today, the MPLA continues to influence Angola's political landscape and governance.
