National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam
The National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam (NLF), commonly known as the Viet Cong, was a political and military organization formed in 1960. It aimed to unify Vietnam under communist rule and sought to oppose the government of South Vietnam, which was supported by the United States. The NLF played a significant role during the Vietnam War, engaging in guerrilla warfare and mobilizing support among the rural population.
The NLF was closely associated with the North Vietnamese government and received assistance from them, including military supplies and training. The organization was instrumental in the struggle against foreign intervention and sought to promote social and economic reforms in South Vietnam. Its activities contributed to the eventual reunification of Vietnam in 1975.
