National Endowment for Democracy
The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is a private, nonprofit organization established in 1983 to promote democracy worldwide. It provides financial support to various groups and initiatives that work towards democratic governance, human rights, and civic engagement in countries where democracy is under threat. NED aims to strengthen democratic institutions and encourage political participation.
NED operates through four core programs: the National Democratic Institute, the International Republican Institute, the Center for International Private Enterprise, and the American Center for International Labor Solidarity. By funding grassroots organizations and fostering dialogue, NED seeks to empower citizens and promote democratic values globally.
