National Democratic Congress (NDC)
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is a major political party in Ghana. Founded in 1992, it emerged from the country's transition to multi-party democracy. The party's ideology is centered around social democracy and it aims to promote economic development, social justice, and human rights.
The NDC has been one of the two dominant parties in Ghanaian politics, often competing with the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The party has held power several times, with notable leaders including Jerry John Rawlings, who was a key figure in its formation and served as both a military ruler and a democratically elected president.
