National Biodiversity Authority
The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) is an Indian governmental organization established in 2003 under the Biological Diversity Act. Its primary role is to promote the conservation of biological diversity, sustainable use of its components, and fair sharing of benefits arising from the use of biological resources. The NBA works to protect India's rich biodiversity, which includes various species of plants, animals, and microorganisms.
The NBA also facilitates the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), an international treaty aimed at preserving global biodiversity. It collaborates with various stakeholders, including local communities, researchers, and policymakers, to ensure that biodiversity is maintained for future generations.
