National Anthem of Greece
The National Anthem of Greece, known as "Hymn to Liberty," was written by Dionysios Solomos in 1823. It consists of 158 stanzas, but only the first two are typically sung. The anthem celebrates the struggle for independence from Ottoman rule and reflects themes of freedom and national pride.
The music for the anthem was composed by Nikolaos Mantzaros, who set Solomos' lyrics to a melody in 1865. The anthem is performed at national events and ceremonies, symbolizing the unity and resilience of the Greek people throughout their history.
