Naga Nationalism
Naga Nationalism refers to the political and cultural movement among the Naga people, an ethnic group primarily located in the northeastern region of India and parts of Myanmar. This movement seeks to promote the identity, rights, and autonomy of the Naga people, who have a distinct culture and history. Naga Nationalism has been marked by demands for greater self-governance and recognition of their unique heritage.
The movement gained momentum in the mid-20th century, particularly with the formation of the Naga National Council in 1946. Over the years, various factions have emerged, advocating for different degrees of autonomy, including complete independence from India. The ongoing dialogue between Naga leaders and the Indian government continues to shape the future of Naga Nationalism.
