Nafi ibn Al-Azhar
Nafi ibn Al-Azhar was a prominent Islamic scholar and a notable figure in the field of Qira'at, which refers to the various methods of reciting the Quran. He was born in Medina and is best known for his unique recitation style, which has been preserved through generations. Nafi's teachings significantly influenced the way the Quran is recited in parts of the Islamic world, particularly in North Africa.
Nafi was a student of Zayd ibn Thabit, a companion of the Prophet Muhammad, and he later became a teacher himself. His recitation was recognized for its clarity and precision, leading to the establishment of the Nafi' recitation as one of the ten canonical recitations of the Quran. His legacy continues to impact Islamic scholarship and the practice of Quranic recitation today.
