NLD
NLD, or National League for Democracy, is a political party in Myanmar founded in 1988. It was established to promote democracy and human rights in the country, which has a history of military rule. The party gained international recognition for its leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, who became a symbol of the pro-democracy movement.
In the 2015 general elections, NLD won a significant majority, leading to the first civilian government in decades. However, the party faced challenges, including a military coup in February 2021, which resulted in the detention of its leaders and ongoing political unrest in Myanmar.
