NGC_2461
NGC 2461 is an open star cluster located in the constellation Monoceros, which is also known as the Unicorn. It was discovered by the astronomer John Herschel in 1834. This cluster is approximately 4,000 light-years away from Earth and contains several young stars that are still in the process of forming.
The cluster spans about 20 light-years across and is estimated to be around 100 million years old. NGC 2461 is notable for its relatively high concentration of stars, making it an interesting target for amateur astronomers and astrophotographers. Its brightness and distinct features can be observed with small telescopes.
