NGC_1001
NGC 1001 is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Phoenix. It is approximately 20 million light-years away from Earth and is part of the NGC 1000 group of galaxies. NGC 1001 is notable for its bright core and well-defined spiral arms, which are rich in star formation.
Discovered by the astronomer John Herschel in 1834, NGC 1001 has a diameter of about 70,000 light-years. It is often studied by astronomers to understand the structure and evolution of spiral galaxies, as well as the processes of star formation within them.
