NGC 6822
NGC 6822, also known as Barnard's Galaxy, is a small irregular galaxy located approximately 1.6 million light-years away in the constellation Sagittarius. It is part of the Local Group, which includes the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies. NGC 6822 is notable for its active star formation and contains several bright regions of young stars.
Discovered by Edward Emerson Barnard in 1884, NGC 6822 has a diameter of about 7,000 light-years. Its irregular shape and low surface brightness make it less prominent than other galaxies, but it is of interest to astronomers studying galaxy formation and evolution.
