NGC 2137
NGC 2137 is a bright open cluster located in the constellation of Canis Major. It is approximately 3,500 light-years away from Earth and contains several hundred stars, many of which are young and hot. The cluster is estimated to be around 100 million years old.
Discovered by William Herschel in 1785, NGC 2137 is also known as Herschel 1. It is a part of the Milky Way galaxy and can be observed with small telescopes. The cluster's stars are loosely bound by gravity, making it a fascinating object for amateur astronomers and astrophotographers.
