NGC 2112
NGC 2112 is an open star cluster located in the constellation Monoceros, which is also known as the Unicorn. It was discovered by the astronomer William Herschel in 1784. The cluster is approximately 4,000 light-years away from Earth and contains several bright stars that are relatively young, with ages estimated to be around 100 million years.
Open clusters like NGC 2112 are groups of stars that formed together from the same molecular cloud and are loosely bound by gravity. They typically disperse over time, but NGC 2112 remains a prominent example of stellar formation and evolution in our galaxy, the Milky Way.
