NGC 1904
NGC 1904 is a globular cluster located in the constellation Monoceros, approximately 50,000 light-years away from Earth. It is also known as M79 and contains hundreds of thousands of stars, tightly packed together due to their strong gravitational attraction.
Discovered by Pierre Méchain in 1780, NGC 1904 is one of the oldest globular clusters, with an estimated age of around 12 billion years. Its stars are primarily composed of older, metal-poor populations, making it an interesting object for studying the early universe and the formation of galaxies.
